Broadbeach was a successful applicant of the National Chaplaincy Programme funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training for a part-time Chaplain. We received funding for 3 years and are lucky to have employed our Chappy - Steve Mead.
Steve is highly valued by our school community, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our school. He joined our team late in 2008 and is very involved in supporting students. He visits classrooms daily, coaches soccer and baseball as well as manages lunchtime programs. He has established a 'Mr Fixit Club' which is very popular.
At Broadbeach our Chaplaincy service:
- Provides pastoral care to students, providing guidance on issues concerning human relationships;
- Assists with student welfare issues;
- Provides support in cases of bereavement, family breakdowns or other crisis and loss situations;
- Provides support for individual students and staff where necessary;
- Assists in the orientation of newly enrolled students and families to the community;
